About Us

For the Dogs

Moving to Tucson was never in the books, but I was convinced with a scholarship to complete my MA at the University of Arizona after completing the Peace Corps in Rwanda.  My husband I were fresh off a 16-hour drive (after a 28-hour flight) from Rwanda— to Boise, Idaho, — to Tucson.

Tucson didn't immediately convince us to stay.  But perhaps between the song of the Saguaros, the chortling Chollas, and those jovial Javalinas (oh yes, and the purchased home), we somehow decided to make Tucson, Arizona our home.

Our Story

What started as a few helped neighbors on the side, quickly became a full-time commitment, as clients kept coming back, referring us to their friends, and spreading the word.  A few dogs became a list of returning clients that became our reason to commit full-time to the Happy Howlers, LLC journey.

Why Happy Howlers?  With 6 years in the books, we've been told it's our ability to work with all kind of pups: including behaviorally complex fur babies who have come from difficult pasts.  My own experience working with dogs begins (well, about at my beginning!), but, more professionally as a house/ pet sitter and humane society volunteer & foster parent in Boise, Idaho.  In Boise, most of my free time was spent at the local humane society where I walked, counseled clients for potential adoptions, and fostered difficult-to-place dogs.

I sometimes wonder if it was just written in the stars that Didace and I met, because Happy Howlers, LLC wouldn't be what it is without him (ask the pack, they'll howl ya all about it!). Affectionately called "the puppy man" by our neighbors, or more determinedly by local park guests as the "dog whisperer"— Didace is the trusted leader of, well, dogs, that sometimes just don't feel like listening to anyone else. Inappropriate play behaviors?  Too shy?  Too spoiled? (hold me, I just got my hair done!), to, "I just haven't done this before?" No fear, Happy Howlers, LLC is here!

Bring your pup to spend the day with us.  Your fur baby will  have a calm, collected crew waiting and ready to spend in the day and play.  Didace and the team don't just rely on ourselves to create appropriate play and pack behaviors, we rely on our established play group pack consisting of dogs who have been (many of them) coming for years.  Because they know the ground rules, your pup will easily learn what is appropriate, pawsitive, and healthy play and social behaviors with dogs who are sometimes very much like them, and sometimes, very different!

So whether your fur-child is a pampered poodle (or, shall I say, doodle!), charismatic Corgi, clingy (but oh -so lovable) Cavalier, rambunctious Rottie, or docile Dachshund— we've got your back... (or shall I say)... we've got the pack!  Bring your pup, for the day or a longer boarding stay, and we'll guarantee their stay with us won't feel like boarding, it'll be their own, special, private stay-cation... their home away from home.
